Publish Your Own Work
Charles Paxton September 13th, 2007

Hello, I’m Charles Paxton, editor and contributing writer-photographer and this is my wife, Kimmie, photographer. The Juice aims to cover contemporary media events in Cumbria or with a Cumbrian connection. We publish event reviews and artist interview profiles. Though we tend to focus on the positive aspects, these aren’t ‘puff pieces’. We just don’t feature articles about people until we feel they’re ready for a wider public viewing. We don’t think that a negative opinion derived from a fleeting and limited exposure should hang over someone like a bad stink.
It’s an open source publication, so please send in your stuff and we’ll post it up. We’ll consider any media related material, we’re particularly interested in event reviews and artist profiles, but if you’d like to write something on the technical side, e.g. ‘How to’ articles, that would be great.
Here are some guidelines for submissions
1) Please check with the band members or artists that you have their permission to publish an article and associated media featuring them or their work, then email your text, Youtube or google video code and/or digital photos to us at contact@thewebcat.biz
Submitted articles may be edited to some degree to maintain standards, but we won’t trample on your writer’s voice.
2) Try to communicate the essence and excitement of the event, ensure accuracy and keep to the truth; feel free to include your opinions, but try to back them up with evidence and avoid hostility, libel and defamation because we won’t post stuff that infringes the rights of others.
3) You may want to email your piece to the artist/s for them to run an approval check, it’s very easy to mistake the names of songs for instance. Enjoy your music and good luck with your writing.
